Meet Dr. Nicky Rieks, DACM, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac.
Dr. Nicky leaps out of bed every morning to build a community committed to creating health & happiness through service and human-friendly medicine.
According to Chinese medicine, illness and disease occur due to imbalances and weaknesses within the body. Dr. Nicky is compassionate and dedicated to her work with patients to achieve their individual health goals, with the aim of alleviating pain and symptoms of discomfort, while also addressing the root of the problem.
She has treated people of all ages, and for a diversity of health issues, including pain relief, injuries, stress, anxiety & depression, digestive and respiratory complaints, fatigue & sleep issues, skin conditions, fertility and women’s health.
Dr. Nicky is a licensed practitioner of East Asian Medicine in the state of Minnesota through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Over a year ago, Dr. Nicky advanced her education through the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine’s Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine program as learning is a continuous passion.
She is a Diplomat of Acupuncture and nationally board certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She also holds a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA where she underwent rigorous clinical and didactic training. Dr. Nicky’s experienced training focuses on the integration of Eastern medicine in the Western medical model. She has studied acupuncture in China at Chengdu University Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. These hospitals apply the Chinese model in utilizing the best of traditional acupuncture and herbal treatments in conjunction with modern drugs. Dr. Nicky holds a certification in Massage Therapy from Bellevue Massage School in Washington as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Cloud State University.
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are known to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. To this end, Dr. Nicky uses a variety of techniques such as acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and herbal medicine, either individually or in combination with other treatments, to promote faster healing.
Dr. Nicky also shared her passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine as an Adjunct Instructor at CenterPoint Massage & Shiatsu Therapy School & Clinic in St. Louis Park, MN before its closure in 2020.
